Happy Mothers day

This has been a long and awaited event for me. Brock spent all day Saturday getting this day ready and perfect for me. He built me a porch swing, got flowers, and a pair of really nice earrings. Brock felt bad today because he was so sick and couldn't get out of bed to go to church. But that's OK because I got to hold a play with Daegen all through church.

Here  is a pic of the porch swing I didn't get any pics on mothers day because Brock was sick it was a really uneventful day.

if you want to read this long and boring post its mostly for Daegen and my posterity and those that care about my journey of becoming a mom. And some pics of me being a mom. then your welcome to scroll down>>>>>

When I used to think of mothers day I used to think of little kids giving there moms noodle necklaces and clay pots with flowers and maybe a hand print or two on bright colored paper. But not any more. When I think of mothers day I think of sweet spirits gracing our presents from above and gods gift to us of raising such choice spirits.
Last year on Mothers Day we had the opportunity of doing IVF in Reno,NV. I thought It couldn't get any better than this I have 28 little embryo's waiting to grow and develop, and I felt bad that there were  so many and that I could only choose just 2 or 3 to be put in their new little "womb home" that I have spent years making a healthy environment for.
Mothers day I was so happy to be away from  my normal environment and I was so happy I didn't have to dodge the potted flower that the youth hand out at church. Later on that day, Brock and I drove to Lake Tahoe and had a picnic and we felt the little embryo spirits with us the whole day. We were so excited for what was hopefully in store for us.
But as the story goes it did not work the way we had planned it.  BUT,We were also in the process of adoption as we went through that second procedure of IVF.  We actually got our approval letter in the mail on my birthday (July 24) that we were approved through the state to adopt. And a couple weeks into August we finally got online so birth mothers could find us. On the first of November which was a Saturday, Brock and I were driving home from SLC and he said I don't think adoption works. But in those couple months we were waiting we had a couple birth moms contacts us, but they were going to place with in their family or keep their baby. So that Monday I went on line to the adoption web site to look at all the new couples that are waiting and to see the ones that were gone. We were one of the ones that were gone. I didn't think anything of it and I was mad because I thought the agency lost all our stuff it was deleted. So I called up the agency and it took them all day to call me back and they said we had a firm hold on our name. I wasn't familiar with the adoption talk to I thought oh no they found out I got taken to the police station in Italy!!! But that was not the case. The case worker said there is a girl at the Sandy,UT agency that is due in 2008 and is very interested in your family. But she said don't get your hopes up because she just came in a week ago and her case worker isn't sure. So the next day came and we found out she was having a boy  I already new that (When they case worker said that we were chosen I just felt it was a boy) and she had a dream that she would like to share with us. So we met on the 7th of November. We were so nervous its just an awkward thing meeting a birth mother because its not one of those things that is really talked about and I heard that most of them are all different anyways.
I thought when we met her I would just start crying I was so filled with joy, but it wasn't like that. She was so cute I couldn't even tell she was pregnant she was so tiny. we were wearing the same shoes and she was very comfortable to talk too, Brock even said we had the same mannerisms.
In that meeting she told us her dream and how her Dad (whom has passed away) came to her in a dream and kept talking about this couple named Brock and Amy, and how she needed to remember those names. I believe this was before she thought about adoption and then after the second or third time having this dream she went online to see if there was a couple really named Brock and Amy and there we were.
Daegen was born December 2 and he was the sweetest little baby boy you could ever imagine. He was defiantly straight from heaven. Brock took on the role of a Father Flawlessly.  I felt love all around. I fell in love with that little boy right away. I felt love for meg and her family and only wished the best for them I felt I had become a sister to them. I loved the nurses that were extremely nice to meg. The nurses that were so genuinely happy for us and opened there life stories with us.
There are a lot more details of this story that are dear to my heart but, I'm only telling you my journey from the  past year of becoming a mother because through that one year there was a lot of growing up and it built me up to be the mother I need to be to my children.
Through this quest of becoming a mother I'm so glad I was able to share it with Daegens beautiful, strong, independent, selfless, kind hearted, and Christ like birth mother. We are better people because we have met her.
So this mothers day I got to hold my baby and look at him smile at me over and over again all day long. and I know that those smiles were sent down from heaven above. And Yes, I will love it one day when I do get a macaroni necklace from Daegen. But all I need is to look at Daegen and I remember the little  miracle that he is. I like to think he was probably one of those little spirits that we felt floating around us last mothers day, but my mortal imperfect body couldn't give him a body. So he was sent down through a selfless birth mother.

We love you Megan

siblings for a day

Daegen and I got to hang out with his cousins for a day. There mom was busy moving to there new house. He had a lot of fun playing and sharing his toys.

Noelle loved swinging Daegen.

Cathrine is a wild child and we nick named her Wild Cat because you can't tame her.
Little marky what can I say. Only a boy would think to make a fort for a 5 month old.
They loved playing with Brock's white board.

5 months

This past month has been filled with a lot of laughter. Daegen has started to laugh on a regular bases. He has also learned to give people courtesy laughs its pretty funny. He smiles constantly and when he wakes up and I go into get him I get a huge smile. His hands are exploring everything. There constantly in his mouth and trying to grab toys, my earring and hair. But my favorite new thing is as long as he has a hold of my finger he is fine. He almost rather hold on to my finger to be soothed than his NUK. He is the love of our lives. We love you Daegy.
He is so serious when he plays with his toys.

He loves this thing.

I'm pooped

literally I'm pooped. Daegen has had diarrhea for the past 5 days. And I have had to change a poopey diaper on the hour. He has developed a rash from all of this. I feel so bad because Daegen gets teary eyed when I have to change him. One of the first mornings I went to change him and I put some diaper cream on his bum and he was screaming like it hurt really bad. So I ran a bath set his bum in the warm water,  and you hear in thirty seconds this painful cry to a smiley laughing happy baby. So with in that week I called and talked to 2 different nurses and they gave me opposite advise. I was really confused. But nothing was helping any ways because the poop was still coming.

Its now may 2 and we took Daegen to the doctors. Brock found blood in his stool and we decided that this was enough and it wasn't going to get better any time soon. So we found out that he as colitis caused from the protein in dairy products including his formula (its also called cow's milk protein allergy). With that information came relief that we weren't hypocondratic(??) parents and it was easy to fix. But the easy to fix part is going to be expensive we have to switch our
formula to formula that is double in price!!!! yeah Brock and I joke that we have a platinum baby. Everything about our children will cost a lot of money but there worth every penny.
Through all this poop we have learned that Daegen likes to not wear pants.  But Brock says that he knew that all a long. Even today Daegen was fussing and I went to change his diaper and when that clean diaper came off he was happy so I left it off. Gross I know but he is a little boy I better get used to it. (notice the garbage bag he is under)

Super Star

Daegen is a funny kid. He is the superstar of our family. I'm sure every baby gets the attention Daegen gets, But he is constantly the center of attention. when he walks into a room all eyes are on him and there are alot of ohhhs and ahhs. I know this is one day going to give him a big head, but part of me thinks not. He not only gets attention he gives it. He honestly loves my singing and dancing.WINK WINK.  He loves my singing so much it has given me a lot of confidence in my ability to sing,  I might even try out for American Idol!! He laughs at my jokes and thinks I'm hilarious. He wants to hold on to my finger and rub his face on my arm.  I know its weird but I feel so loved when he does that, he is so affectionate. I'm so lucky to be raising him he is our little super star.

2 strikes your out

2 strikes your out. I think my pictures show what has happened. Once this happens twice in the same morning its time to change diaper size. This was an exceptionally gross morning as you can see my sheets on my bed. I'll gladly spare you the details.

Happy Easter (Daegys first)

This was Daegens first Easter. He was a hit at church. We even had requests to stop at an older couples home because his wife missed church. He thought Daegen was the cutest thing he had ever seen.
An old man was walking home with us from church and he said " you sure take a lot of pride in that boy don't you. " I said  "you have no idea!"
My daegy baby he is so precious.

It melts my heart to see Brock and Daegen together. Brock is such a good dad. He doesn't get to see him as much as he would like, but Brock makes sure that he gets a smile from Daegen before he has to leave for work and school.

4 month DOC appointment

Daegen had his 4 month doctors appointment today. He is growing like a weed. He weighed in at 14 pounds and 11 oz which puts him in the 5o percentile in weight. His height 25 1/2 inches and puts him in the 75 percentile in his height.  The whole time the doctor was in the room Daegen was jabbering it was so cute the doctor loved it. He is also going to start eating rice cereal and veggies. He has been so interested in food I know that he will love it.

He got 2 shots  today with 2 blue camo band aids .
This is his cute cheese ball smile he is a funny kid. But he is still smiling after a hard day at the doctors.

4 months

Well Daegen turned 4 months on the 2nd of this month(April). He is discovering his little world bit by bit, even managing to hold his head up with hopes not to miss one detail. It is so amazing that we as his parents are introducing him to the world. It is a big responsibility to grasp, that we are his first teachers. The things I say and do and show him affect him and his outlook. I hope and pray that I can open up a bright big world. How I hope he will see the world with optimism and happiness and thankfulness. but more importantly, I hope to teach him to understand who he really is.  He is such an important soul, not only in our home, where a happy trio resides, but also in the big picture. We love him so much and when he smiles his special smile to me I just melt and know I wouldn't want to be with any other little person than my little daegy.
Just got out of his bath.
Just chillen watching T.V. He loves deal or no deal. His G.G. introduced him to Howie Mandel(?) in palm springs.
loves taking his NUK out and putting it back in.
Look at those eye lashes!!!
He loves playing!
he loves sitting up and the highchair is perfect!

bumpers are finally done!!!

Yes!! my four month project is finally done. My mother in-law and I picked out fabric forDaegens bedding before we knew he was going to be Daegen. Just about 4 months ago.  we started working on it after Christmas and then we just got busy and weren't motivated. Also they were kinda a pain because we barley used a pattern, the design was all in my head. Which can be scary sometimes.
I put Daegen on a schedule the beginning of this month, and moved him to sleeping in his crib. So that made me motivated. And now were done. Thank you Margo they look great!!

Palm springs

I was able to hang out in palm springs with my family. Brock was not able to come because he is going to school and working full time, we really missed him.
Daegen and I had fun hanging out with family and laying in the sun and going shopping(I'm bound and determined for daegen to like shopping).
auntie Em loved daegen and she would put him to sleep even if I didn't want him to go to sleep at that time.
The little man was a hit this night everyone commented on him. "o look at the baby with the hat "
his swimming attire he is very protected from the sun.
So cute . He rarely is on his stomach because he will roll to his back right away. Smart cookie!!
He is saying, " I love being naked, now if only dad were here to join me"
swimming in the pool.
cuddling with granny and auntie Em.
future 5 year old Daegen golfing.
daeges with auntie Em and aunt MEME

While we were in Palm springs we had a nice wind storm and we drove up to an overlook of the valley and it was so windy. I was the only one brave enough to go out there and take pics.

Here I am after the overlook shot!! barley could get into the car it was so windy.

I thought that this was an interesting concept.  Spandex are a privilege not an option, but they become an option when they have jeans sewn on to spandex, Right?
